Gmail is a web-based email service by Google. It is accessed by the users using the mobile application or by using the web browser. It supports both IMAP and POP email protocols. Google announced that from 8th February 2017, Chrome browser users who are still not using the latest version of the Chrome browser will be directed by a banner on the top of the Gmail interface. It will contain a reminder for the users to upgrade the Chrome version 53 and below to the latest version 55. If the users will not update their chrome to the latest version, then the Gmail Stop Supporting Chrome Older Version i.e the users will not be able to use Gmail in Chrome browser. Because the new version of Chrome browser comes with many big security updates.

The banner will go away once the user has updated the Chrome browser to the latest version until and unless if the user is still using Windows XP or Windows Vista as Google stopped releasing the updates for Chrome on these operating systems after version 49. Also, Microsoft no longer supports these operating systems.

Solutions For the Problems

Here are some of the solutions to the above user problems:

The solution to the problem by Mr. Raul Alves is Gmail backup which will help to recover the essential Gmail data. After that, you can use the recovered data in any of the desktop email clients like Microsoft Outlook, Thunderbird, etc. In case, just check that the email protocol should be POP3 at the time of creating the backup.

The solution to the problem by Mr. Diego Castro is that he should update the Chrome browser version to version 55. The Gmail will continue to work on the older Chrome browsers but it will be the risk to your email security and data contained in it. The Microsoft continues to support Windows 8 Operating System till now.

The solution to the problem of Mr. Gary Neville is that he can continue using Gmail on the older Chrome browser. But, the Gmail will be redirected to the basic HTML version. In that version, there are many features that will be missing from the Gmail version being currently used and that’s why the Gmail stop supporting chrome older version. So, there are two solutions to the problem of Mr. Gary. First, updated the Windows Operating System to the one which is currently supported.

Conclusion

The problem of Gmail stop supporting chrome older version is resolved and the Gmail will continue to work with the older versions of Chrome browser till the end of the year 2017 but with the banner. Also, the users who will continue to use the older versions of Chrome browser they will be redirected to the basic HTML version of the Gmail with fewer features.

Also, Google itself is encouraging the system administrators to migrate and use the latest version of the Chrome browser with a notification that it may be important to use the new operating system as well. Generally, Google does not announce when it will discontinue the support of the older version of the Chrome browser. It is because of the current browser support policy. Therefore, it will affect the large number of users who are still using Windows XP and Windows Vista operating system.
